Thousands of wild Animals in some parts of Nigeria dies every dry seasons due to bush burning.

Hunters and Farmers in rural communities in Nigeria usually set thick forest which is the natural habitats of wild animals on fire in order to secure a virgin land for farming

 

The hunters on the other hands take advantage of the situation to attack them in their hide out to kill them and sell them to the locals for consumption.

 

This development is affecting the living conditions of wild life in the country .

 

The fire usually kills the young ones in a large numbers since they were not strong enough to escape from the inferno, reducing the size able numbers of wild animals population in Nigeria forest .

A forest officer in a local government council of Dekina in kogi state in the North region of Nigeria , Idris Ahmadu while speaking to Africa Animal Media, AAM said wild animals are going into extinction in the area due to Terrestrial hazard caused by humans against wild life in the forest .

 

 

He said the Forest Reserves in the area had been depleted by bush burning , and tree felling which has lead to total destruction of wildlife .

 

The Forest expert cautioned residents of the local communities to safe the wildlife as they deserves to live like other living things .
