Sheep  estimated to be 20 in numbers were  always left by  yet be to identified owners roaming around major streets of Lokoja, Kogi State in Northern Nigeria .

This urgly incident happens  mostly at night at a time the animals supposed to be in their barn there by exposing them to attack or being knocked down by vehicles.
Sometimes the sheep will converged on  centre  of the roads making it impossible for cars to pass .
Some vehicles in the cause of  trying to  manoeuvre out of the way will hit the sheep and get it killed.
A group, Concerned Animals Welfare, CAW has called on the government to legislate a law that will put a ban on Animals wandering on the streets.
The group Executive Director, Tajudeen Micheal who spoke with Africa Animal Media, AAM said the law should be in  such a manner that any animals owner who refuses to keep them  in a safe place but rather allow them to move around to fend for themselves should be sanctioned and had the animals seized from him or her by the government.
He lamented the growing concern over safety of animals and how they have been killed on the roads by hit and run cars .
