Nigerians like many other humans around the world are lovers of companion animals who are often referred to as pets .
Pets can be dogs, cats, birds and other animals.
These companion animals need care like human beings, but sometimes they may fall sick or get injured from an accident and at times the owners may not have the required funds for medical treatment and that is where the insurance comes in .
Though it is never practiced in Nigeria, a country whose citizens have companion animals deserves to have pet insurance to help indemnify loss incurred from any harm on their pets.
The Nigerian government and relevant stakeholders should take a look at the need to bring this into bear in animal management.
