Residents of riverine communities in Lokoja, Kogi State in Northern Nigeria has gunned down Hippopotamus which was chased out of Rivers Niger by the monstrous flood to hid at a river bank

The act  was condemned by some people who were moved with pity ,how the animal was struggling to escape from human attack .
Despite its struggles to return to the river it was overwhelmed by  the rampaging youths who took over the scene to snuffed life out of the innocent animal.
Government at all levels in Nigeria are not doing enough to save the lives of wild Animals.
Effort should be put up to ensure animals are protected from this herrondous conditions.
